Tricia Guild founded Designers Guild in 1970, whilst searching for textiles to decorate with. By recolouring a collection of Indian hand-blocked printed textiles, the first collection was born. In 1972, she opened a store on the King’s Road in London with the first collection of fabrics, also selling ceramics & furniture. It was more than just a store. It was an environment and a concept. Tricia’s first book was published in 1982 – ‘Soft Furnishings’. To date, she published over 15 inspirational books.

In 1986, her brother Simon Jeffreys, who has a degree in Business Studies and Chartered Accountancy, joined the company in partnership with Tricia Guild as Chief Executive. Over the years, the collections have expanded from fabrics to readymade accessories, bed and bath ranges, rugs, wall coverings, furniture, upholstery and paint. For her work, Tricia is awarded with numerous prestigious international awards and recognitions.

In addition to the Designers Guild collections, the company designs and manufactures under license William Yeoward Fabrics and Paper and is also the European and Middle East distributor for Ralph Lauren Fabric and Wallpaper. In 2011, Designers Guild launched a further license for the iconic international luxury brand Christian Lacroix. (Sources: Designers Guild website, Wikipedia)
